Hospice Dream Becomes a Reality at Walter Reed
MG George Weightman accepts the rooms from
Robert Scott & Roderick Mitchell
The Pentagon Federal Credit Union
Foundation formally presented Walter Reed Army Medical Center
(WRAMC) with a hospice suite and family/patient lounge on Monday,
January 22. The rooms reflect current best practices for patients
to receive quality care while surrounded by the comforts of home-like
environment. The project was inspired by the need to provide terminally
ill service members a comfortable and dignified place to spend
their last weeks with family and friends.
MG George W. Weightman, Commander WRAMC and North Atlantic Regional Medical Command, gratefully accepted the rooms. Roderick Mitchell, President of the Foundation, thanked all the generous donors who made the gift possible, especially the thousands of active and retired military personnel around the world who supported the project.
