BIOGRAPHY
Roderick B. Mitchell Roderick
(Rocky) Mitchell is president of The Pentagon Federal Credit
Union Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to promote financial
literacy, and help provide for the overall well being of soldiers
and their families.
This includes initiatives to stimulate first
time home ownership and most recently a comprehensive program
to meet the needs of severely wounded soldiers from Operations
Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The Pentagon Federal Credit
Union Foundation is an IRS certified 501(C) 3 organization,
which allows it to accept charitable contributions. The Foundation
is especially concerned with the financial well being of junior
enlisted and their families, including reservists. One of
our primary concerns is debt over extension and the use of
high-interest payday lenders.
Prior to joining Pentagon Federal Credit
Union and The Foundation, Roderick was President and CEO of
the Bedford Suyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration)
in New York. Restoration is the oldest and one of the largest
community development corporations in the country. It focuses
on economic and community development initiatives. Senator
Robert Kennedy founded Restoration in 1967.
Roderick obtained a Bachelor of Arts in
economics from UCLA and a MBA in finance from Columbia University.
He is the recipient of the 1999 Ellis Island Medal of Honor
and currently serves on New York City’s 2012 Olympic
Committee.
